Creating Homes / Changing Lives

This large-scale development is located in a countryside setting in East Sussex and will deliver 160 units for our client Optivo.

Located on the site of a former plant nursery, the family-led scheme incorporates a mix of quality sustainable homes and apartments consisting of one, two, three and four-bedroom homes across various tenures. The development is thoughtfully designed and configured around abundant green spaces.

The challenge and solution

With our in-depth know-how we assisted our client in designing an optimised scheme to accord with market demands while creating build efficiencies. Our ability to brainstorm cost-effective commercial solutions allowed the scheme to be delivered within a fixed build budget while overcoming several challenging technical constraints.

Delivering sustainability and social value

Biodiversity

The generously proportioned landscaped areas have been carefully planned to maximise the opportunity to create wildlife habitats and enhanced planting zones, all of which increase the biodiversity credentials of the scheme.

Modern methods of construction

Our partner contractor has used modern timber-frame techniques to deliver these energy-efficient homes, which achieve super low u-values. Because the timber frames are made in a factory-controlled environment, this method reduces waste and build duration, aligning with our views on sustainable construction.

Additional affordable

The development also meets with V10’s aspirations to deliver a high proportion of affordable properties within any given development. Here this was successfully achieved as 80% of residencies are designated as affordable homes, providing an additional 50% of units over and above standard planning policy requirements.
